Honeypot ants, Also called Honey ants, are the members of various different species of ants. They are unique from other ant species because of the fact that they use their own body as the storage chamber.
Honey ants were first documented in 1881 by Henry C. McCook and then in 1902, they were further described by Willian Morton Wheeler.

These ants are known by many names, Mainly Honeypot ants, honey ants, repletes, plerergate, rotund. These are a special class of ants which occurs in some species. The aim of honey ant to become fat and big. Because they use their own body as the storage unit, bigger they are, the more they can store.
